School Supplies Reminder

Elementary school supplies are free this year, made possible by the School Board’s vision and support and the Business Services Department’s work to make it happen. All you need is a backpack and water bottle.

Free Meals & Reduced Fees – Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit (CNEEB)

You may qualify for free school lunches and a reduction in school fees. Complete a CNEEB application. Even if your child attends a CEP school (where all meals are provided without cost), please complete this application. That way you may also be eligible for reduced fees and other benefits. Be sure to complete the “Consent to Share” form too.

Student Fees & Charges

CVSD works to keep the cost of school as low as possible for families. For the 2026-27 school year, the School Board continued to reduce or waive several common fees, including class supply and athletic participation fees.

 

Student fees, fines and charges are explained in Policy 3520 and Procedure 3520AP. Some school programs may have additional fees.

 

Fines may be charged for lost, damaged or unreturned district property, such as library books, textbooks and Chromebooks. Thank you for helping students take care of school resources used for learning. When needed, fees and fines will be added to the student’s PowerSchool account.

 

Families with lower incomes may qualify to have some fees reduced or waived. Eligibility is based on free and reduced-price meal guidelines. Some extracurricular fees may also be waived when a current Consent to Share form is on file.

School Policies (Student Responsibilities & Rights)

Students have certain rights as citizens. Our Student Responsibilities and Rights handbook defines those rights, based on the State of Washington’s rules and regulations. It also contains notification info. Access this and school policies at: cvsd.org/SchoolPolicies 

Cell Phone & Mobile Device Policy

CVSD’s Cell Phone & Mobile Device Policy helps keep schools focused on learning and free from distractions.

  • High School: Devices may be used before/after school and during lunch.
  • Middle School: Devices may be used before and after school only.
  • Elementary School: Devices may be used only before arriving on campus and after leaving campus, including smartwatches.

During restricted times, devices should be off and out of sight unless permitted by an administrator or needed in an emergency.

School Bus Safety Reminder

As students return to school, please remember to slow down, stay alert and follow Washington’s laws for stopping for school buses. Review when drivers are required to stop and other important safety reminders from OSPI: School Bus Safety Information.

MyPowerHub: One Place for Family Access to PowerSchool, online payments & communications

CVSD is moving toward MyPowerHub as a simpler, more connected way for families to access student information and services. During this school year, MyPowerHub will begin bringing together PowerSchool, online payments, school communications and new communication features in one place.
 
For now, families will continue to access PowerSchool, online payments through PowerSchool, and SchoolMessenger communications as they have in the past. As MyPowerHub is phased in, families will be able to access the integrated experience through the PowerSchool app and web access.

Regular attendance plays an important role in student learning, connection and success. Families are encouraged to report absences promptly, plan vacations and extended absences around school breaks whenever possible, and reach out to their school if attendance challenges arise. CVSD staff are here to help identify barriers and connect students and families with support.
