School Transfer ("Choice")
Parents, guardians, or emancipated students interested in transferring to another school, or online school, should complete the appropriate form (below) and submit it to the principal of the building where they want to transfer, by the following dates to pre-register for the 2019-2020 school year:
  • Resident students (living in the district) - by April 15
  • Non-resident students (living outside the district) - by May 1
Schools will follow district policy by conducting a lottery within five school days of each deadline to select students for available choice (transfer) slots. Letters of approval or denial will then be sent to each student.*

*Due to new middle school attendance area boundaries for the 2019-2020 school year, CVSD Administrative Procedure 3130AP District Area Transfers (revised on 11/26/18 - see page 3) will be followed with regard to existing attendance area transfer students and new request for attendance area transfer.

With regard to choice approval determinations for the 2019-20 school year, lottery drawings for choice applicants to attend out-of-attendance area schools will be held in mid- to late-August 2019 at each CVSD middle school in order to allow in-boundary students to be enrolled in their respective new attendance area schools. Our aim is to reduce the number of students who may need to be overflowed to out-of-attendance area schools.

Note: For the 2019-2020 school year, Central Valley High School is closed to choice/transfer. All elementary schools are closed to choice for 2019-2020, except Progress Elementary.
