2025-2026 District Calendar

We are excited to welcome students back on Wednesday, August 27. This change in the calendar, starting a week earlier, aims to better support our students, families and staff wellbeing by giving breaks throughout the school year. For additional info on creating a more balanced calendar, visit www.cvsd.org/BalancedCalendar

  • Find the district 2025-2026 calendar at cvsd.org/DistrictCalendar
  • After listening to parents, both elementary and middle school conferences will happen in unison over three full days (rather than half days) the end of October with a second opportunity for elementary conferences in February (no school during conferences for those grades).
  • A slight schedule change to CVHS, RHS and UHS will shift to a one-hour late start on Thursdays for staff collaboration 8:45 a.m. (a half hour later than last year) beginning September 4, aligning with the rest of CVSD schools. This allows collaboration with our teachers to strengthen learning across the high school Check your school’s web site for any daily schedule updates.

Reduced Student Fees – Thanks to Your School Board

Your School Board is looking out for families and students. They waved all class supply fees this year, and reduced both performing arts and athletic fees. We will evaluate if we are able to continue into the future, but wanted to make a difference this year! The reduced performing arts and athletic fees will be reflected when your child signs up for these activities. Contact your school if you have questions on any specific details.

School Policies (Student Responsibilities & Rights)

Students have certain rights as citizens and the school system cannot unduly infringe on those rights. This document defines the reasonable limits of those rights, based on the rules and regulations established by the State of Washington. It also contains notification info. Access school policies at: www.cvsd.org/SchoolPolicies

Updated Cell Phone & Mobile Device Policy

We want to create a learning environment that’s focused and free from distractions. To support this, an updated policy is now in place regarding the use of cell phones, mobile devices, smartwatches, and other personal electronic or listening devices during school hours and at school-sponsored events. Here’s a quick overview:

  • High School: Students may use devices ONLY before and after school and during lunch.
  • Middle School: Device use is allowed ONLY before and after school.
  • Elementary School: Devices may ONLY be used before arriving on campus and after leaving campus. (This includes smartwatches.)

(A school administrator can give permission under special circumstances. In case of an emergency, involving imminent physical danger, students may use their devices—but only if it is safe to do so.)

Devices should not be visible, turned on, or cause distractions during the school day. If they disrupt learning, violate privacy or any school or district rules, they may be taken away and disciplinary action may follow. Thank you for helping us keep our schools safe and focused on learning! To learn more or see possible consequences, please visit: www.cvsd.org/Cellphones

Free Meals & Reduced FeesChild Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit (CNEEB)

You may qualify for free school lunches and a reduction in school fees. Complete a CNEEB application. Even if your child attends a CEP school (where all meals are provided without cost), please complete this application. That way you may also be eligible for reduced fees and other benefits. Be sure to complete the “Consent to Share” form too.

PowerSchool allows parents and students to login to a secure account to access student attendance for all grades, and real-time assignments and grades for middle and high school. For families with multiple children, there is a single sign-on option. There is also a convenient mobile app available. You can also access our “Payments and Purchases” through PowerSchool to pay for student ASB cards, activities, fees and more.

Access School Communications (School Messenger)

A mobile app and website enable you to receive communications from your school(s) right to your phone or computer, in addition to email, text, and phone messages. You also control how you are communicated with and from whom.
