If you were unable to gather with our Capital Facilities Committee on October 11 or 12, here's a video recording for you to learn about proposed buildings/facilities, safety/lighting/technology projects and upgrades. Learn how school projects could potentially be financed with a capital levy.

CVSD Career & Technical Education
Featured
Here is the story of just two of our outstanding CVSD CTE teachers that give our students career and technical skills that they can use for a lifetime.
Uploaded Nov 30, 2020
Joe McCollum teaches the biomedical science CTE & Project Lead the Way courses at University High School. He explains, "We don't just stand up there and lecture. We're throwing out a question or a problem that they're going to try to solve. Then they're working either independently or in groups to solve that problem and come up with the answers themselves. On day one, I'm giving them a heart and saying, 'tell me how this works?'"
"We're doing a lot of the anatomy on the computer. So we've got access to these pretty cool things to where they're 3-D models of human bodies. That is been a really cool tool and resource for the students to be able to use at home."
"The biomedical course do use a lot of equipment. Without the community support, there would be now way the ability to have that technology or even the support to run that type of program."
Mike Conklin teaches computer science CTE courses at University High School. He explains, "Even if it's just as minimal as just a Zoom call, which has become a huge thing, computer science is used in every aspect of life. In my computer science classes, I never hear: 'When are we going to use this?' Once you get the kind of basics of computer science, the thinking, you can really bounce around from language to language."
"We have students that I've had in math class that have gone into programming and work at Amazon and Google. I don't want students to just go into computer science ... I want you to go major in biology, major in agriculture, major in music, and then use computer science as a tool in that field."
