Executive Director of Facilities & Planning – Jerrol Olson
Jerrol Olson is responsible for strategic oversight, management and long-term planning of all district facilities, maintenance operations and capital improvement projects—maintaining excellence for CVSD. He leads the development of facility plans, oversees large-scale projects and manages resources to meet the district’s current and future infrastructure needs.
Jerrol’s journey from teacher to elementary school principal to executive director of facilities and planning is driven by his deep commitment to creating safe, welcoming and inspiring learning environments for students. He believes that well-maintained schools are the foundation for strong educational experiences and is passionate about fostering a positive culture that supports both staff and students. Beginning in 1997 as a CVSD elementary principal, he has served this community in various administrative roles—leading the Facilities Services team since 2019.

- Strategic Planning & Capital Projects
- Supports development and implementation of a long-term facilities master plan that aligns with the district’s strategic plan. Leads the planning, design and execution of major capital improvement projects, renovations and new construction. Collaborates with architects, engineers and construction managers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and in compliance with regulations. Oversees multiple projects, managing timelines, budgets and resources to deliver high-quality educational spaces.
- Facilities Operations & Maintenance
- Provides executive oversight of daily operations for the Facilities Services department. Establishes and enforces maintenance policies to ensure the proper upkeep of school buildings, grounds and critical infrastructure including HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. Implements best practices in preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance to successfully extend the lifespan of district assets.
- Organizational Leadership & Staff Development
- Leads, mentors and develops a high-performing team of facilities managers, trades staff and custodial personnel. Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. Ensures staff receive ongoing training in safety protocols, regulatory compliance and operational best practices to maintain high standards across the district.
- Budgeting & Resource Management
- Develops and manages the district’s facilities and capital projects budget with a focus on fiscal responsibility and cost-effective resource allocation. Identifies opportunities for cost savings and energy efficiency improvements consistent with Clean Building Performance Standards. Oversees procurement processes and contracts related to facilities management, maintenance and construction to ensure quality and value.
- Compliance, Risk Management & Safety
- Ensures all facilities and maintenance activities comply with local, state and federal regulations, including OSHA and environmental standards. Conducts regular facility assessments to identify and mitigate risks. Develops and implements emergency preparedness and disaster recovery plans to keep students and staff safe.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Serves as the district’s primary liaison for all facilities-related matters. Collaborates with school administrators, district leadership and external stakeholders to align facility operations with educational needs. Presents facility plans, project updates and budget reports to the School Board and community stakeholders. Responds to urgent maintenance and facility-related concerns with efficiency and effectiveness.
