Communication Systems Manager - Tanya Conklin
Tanya Conklin joined CVSD in 2014 after a communications career with various non-profit and education-related agencies. The chance to work for a school district combined her inclination toward service- and education-related institutions. Her work experience included stints at the National Headquarters of the American Red Cross, the Duke University Comprehensive Cancer Center, and a grad school internship at the US Department of Education.
Having earned a BA at WSU in Communications and a Master of Public Administration, with a focus on Education Policy, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, joining CVSD as a Communications Strategist was an ideal role. At CVSD, Tanya focuses on determining systems-based solutions, helps manage messaging campaigns, serves as a go-to person for Edlio (website) and SchoolMessenger questions, helps train users on both platforms, and enjoys helping to investigate and address various issues or challenges – especially if the solution can involve a pivot table.
Coordinates or helps manage:
• Internal (employee) and external (public/parent/community) communications
• Strategic communications planning
• Generate positive stories about unique things happening in our district/schools
• Crisis/emergency communications
• District branding, publications, newsletters, flyers, forms, collateral materials
• District and school communication system management - train/manage all 175 users
• All district and school websites and social media management, train/manage all 150+ users
• Monitor all district and school two-way social media communication and responses
• District community events
• Updates external and internal websites and social media platforms
