Director of Assessment & Program Effectiveness - Bill Ash
Bill Ash has been the director of assessment & program effectiveness in CVSD since 2001. Prior to that he was a classroom teacher for 14 years. As a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet, he collaborates with student information systems to manage and maintain assessment data dashboards for all CVSD schools and learning centers. He works with CVSD staff on district, state and national assessments and the interpretation of the results.
Assessment data drives decision making for student success in our school district. The director of assessment plays a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness and accountability of our educational programs. Bill serves as a data expert, instructional leader and accountability officer—working to ensure assessment data is used effectively to improve student learning and educational outcomes. Here are a few of the areas Bill oversees:
- Coordinates district-wide assessment programs
- Works with the technology department to ensure that assessment technology is up to date and functional.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation related to assessment activities.
- Participates in district and state accountability initiatives.
- Develops & maintains assessment data collection, research projects & evaluation
- Designs and oversees implementation of district-wide assessment systems, including standardized tests, formative assessments and performance-based assessments.
- Selects, evaluates and recommends appropriate assessment tools and technologies.
- Utilizes data to inform instructional decisions, resource allocation and program evaluation.
- Communicates assessment results & findings
- Analyzes and interprets district and school assessment data to improve instruction.
- Liaises with stakeholders, including parents, teachers, staff, administrators, the school board and the public about assessment policies, results and findings.
- Generates comprehensive assessment measurement reports and presentations for the school board, district administrators, school leaders, teachers and the community.
- Assists with curriculum adoption process
- Works collaboratively with the director of learning and curriculum as well as teachers to ensure alignment between curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Assists in the delivery & assessment of in-service programs
- Provides professional development to teachers and administrators on assessment best practices, data-driven decision-making and the use of assessment results to improve student learning.
- Develops & maintains professional relationships
- Communicates with professional organizations in the area of evaluation and assessment.
- Collaborates with external agencies and organizations on assessment-related initiatives.
