Multilingual Services

The Multilingual Services Department (ML) supports students and families who speak languages other than English. We help multilingual learners build English language skills while they learn and succeed in their classrooms.

Our department provides English Language Development (ELD) services for students who qualify for language support. We also work with teachers, school staff, and families to help multilingual students access grade-level learning and reach their full potential.

Supporting Students and Families

ML provides support throughout a student's K–12 education. Our team:

  • Provides English language development instruction and support
  • Helps identify students who may qualify for ELD services
  • Monitors students' English language growth and academic progress
  • Works with families and school staff to support student success
  • Provides interpretation and translation services when needed
  • Connects students and families with additional resources and support

Supporting Teachers and Staff

Our ML Specialists work closely with teachers and school staff. We provide consultation, coaching, resources, and professional learning to help staff support students who are learning English.

Support may include strategies for teaching students at different levels of English proficiency, culturally responsive teaching practices, and ways to make grade-level content accessible to multilingual learners.
