The Central Valley School District is committed to fostering a healthy school environment that supports student success now and post-graduation.
With a focus on the well-being of students, the district aims to focus on health education, physical education, and physical activity across all grade levels. The goal is to provide students with meaningful opportunities to develop healthy habits that contribute to their overall growth and success.
To ensure these efforts align with state and federal guidelines, the district’s wellness committee will oversee a comprehensive wellness policy. This policy will comply with requirements for participation in the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and the USDA Smart Snacks in School nutrition standards.
The CVSD Wellness Committee, to be co-chaired by the Executive Director of Human Resources and Operations and the Senior Manager of Nutrition Services, was established to focus on the overall well-being and health of students and staff.
Following a district and community-wide invitation, members are to be selected to help set priorities and implement wellness policies.
The Wellness Committee will focus on the following areas:
• Understanding wellness policy compliance requirements;
• Helping develop an implementation plan for the wellness policy;
• Helping develop an implementation plan for the wellness policy;
• Ensuring annual public notification of the wellness policy;
• Reviewing triennial progress assessments; and
• Encouraging community involvement, outreach, and communications initiatives regarding the wellness policy.

Progress Reports and Assessments
