Central Valley Student & Family Engagement Center

The Central Valley Student & Family Engagement Center is working to create a community hub that serves the social, emotional, academic, medical, mental health and nutritional needs of students and families in our community. The center will open in August 2021.
Keystone Elementary opened in 1970 and was a beloved school to thousands of neighborhood students over the years. The school closed in 2003. It was the home for Summit School for several years and later housed students while schools were under construction. In 2019, the Central Valley School District partnered with Boys and Girls Club and will turn the former elementary on South McDonald Road into a center that houses an after-school club for kids along with the district’s social services programs.
Now, we are looking to provide additional needed services to our community.
We are currently surveying students, families and the community to see what services are needed and would be most useful. We are also working on branding the center, creating a new logo and materials to promote the programs we offer. Center services are free and available to all children, youth, parents and families who live in the Central Valley School District regardless of social, ethnic or socioeconomic status.
The school district provides services through its homeless liaisons, social workers, English Language Development staff, school nurses, and many other highly-qualified staff. The Boys and Girls Club is able to provide programs through fundraising and generous donations that benefit area children. Funding for additional services may be available.
