Student and Family Engagement Center

SAFE Center Officially Opens October 11

Mondays 9am-Noon | Thursdays: 3-6pm | 612 S McDonald Road

Welcome Students and Families

The Central Valley Student and Family Engagement Center (SAFE Center) is working to create a community hub that serves the social, emotional, academic, medical, mental health and nutritional needs of students and families in our community. The center had a Back-to-School Resource fair in August 2021 and officially opens to our students and families on October 11, 2021.

All SAFE Center services are free and available to all children, youth, parents and families who live in CVSD regardless of social, ethnic or socioeconomic status.

The school district provides services through its homeless liaisons, social workers, English Language Development staff, school nurses, and many other highly-qualified staff. The Boys and Girls Club is able to provide activities at Keystone through a partnership with CVSD in advance of opening full Club services. Registration is limited and one only through invitation by neighboring schools.

Our History

Keystone Elementary opened in 1970 at 612 S McDonald Road and was a beloved school to thousands of neighborhood students over the years until when the school closed in 2003. It was the home for Summit School for several years and later housed students while schools were under construction. In 2019, CVSD partnered with Boys and Girls Club and will turn the former elementary into a center that houses an after-school club for kids along with the district’s social services programs. In May of 2021, we surveyed students, families and the community to see what services were needed and would be most useful.
