Type II Certification and Coach/Chaperone Information
In order to transport students in a district vehicle, the district employee must complete the necessary Type II training and submit a copy of their valid First Aid Card and yearly Drivers Abstract to Transportation. Once received, Transportation will update the Type II Checklist.

Coaches & Chaperones Responsibilities

When a teacher, coach, or other staff member is assigned to accompany students on a school bus, such person shall be responsible for the behavior of the students in his or her charge and shall ensure that passengers comply with state rules, and district policies and procedures for student transportation. however, the school bus driver shall have final authority and responsibility.
Prohibited items
- Spikes and/or cleated shoes shall not be worn on the bus or stored on the seat, unless boxed.
- Javelins and poles for vaulting must be transported on the floor, secured, and under the seats on the right side of the bus. The tips of the javelins must also be wrapped due to their sharp point.
- Shotput must be in bags and in the control of a student or coach.
- Springboards and other gymnastic equipment will be transported only if such items can be safely stowed within a seating space and must be secured with bungee cords.
- Ski and Snowboard equipment will not be transported inside Central Valley school buses. They may be transported in “undercarriage” compartments on the bus that are out of students' reach.
- Golf clubs must be completely encased and under the control of the passenger.
- Passengers are not to wear any cleats on Central Valley school buses.
- Air canisters or rifles must be transported in “undercarriage” compartments and secured to not roll around during transport.
- Baseball bats may be transported but must be secured in the student’s bag with the handle portion being exposed.
- Tennis rackets need to be transported in a sports bag or similar to baseball bats.
- Balls are to be secured and stowed by the passenger and not accessed while on the bus.
- No balloons.
- No bicycles.
- No skateboards, scooters, or skates of any kind.
- Fishing poles must be bagged or completely encased.
- Loose wheelchairs or walkers will be secured with bungee cords.
- Flowers or plants must be kept in a sealed bag due to allergies.
- No aerosol sprays.
- No glass containers.
- All forms of animal life are prohibited, except service animals.
- No flammable items and liquids of any kind.
There may be specific directions from the Supervisor of Transportation or a designee regarding the transportation of certain items due to the unique circumstances of some school activities.
