Help For District Devices At Home
===========================
  • How does my student log into a Chromebook?
    • User Name = Student ID number
    • Password = normal district password they use at school

  • I am following the instructions from the school and can't get logged in, what should I do?
    • Students that have never logged onto a Chromebook will initially need to log in with their student ID and the default password. (See your parent email) They will be required to reset their password the first time they log in.

  • My student cannot log in and we have tried both above steps, what do I do now?
    • If your child is having difficulty logging onto the district provided Chromebook device, please send an email to passwordhelp@cvsd356.org and we will work to resolve the issue as soon as we can.

  • What is GoGuardian block page?
    • CVSD has implemented the GoGuardian filtering solution on all of our Chromebooks across the district.  This solution provides a layer of filtering on student devices when away from the district network and used at home.  GoGuardian also provides teachers the ability to remotely see student screens in real time and direct or limit the students ability to visit websites while in the classroom session.  Another benefit of GoGuardian are the robust reporting features.  GoGuardian logs all web traffic for all users, and provides comprehensive historical information complete with screen shots and URL information.

  • GoGuardian keeps blocking sites my student is trying to get to, how can I unblock it?
    • The portable student take home devices are intended to support the district provided enrichment activities students are engaging in.  If there is a site that that needs to be opened in conjunction with these activities, please work with your teacher who can coordinate the process for opening those sites if necessary.

  • The Chromebook was working but now will not turn on or charge, what happened?
    • Every once in a while, a Chromebook will seem like it does not work or charge. To fix this plug in the Chromebook to the charger and hold down the power button for 30-60 seconds. Most times that will force a reboot and the Chromebook will work.
    • If the above does not work, you will need to contact your student's building principal to get a replacement device.

  • My student can't log into an account that the teacher said we should use, who do I contact?
    • If you can't get into the account they uses in the classroom or that their teacher suggested please contact the teacher.
    • If it is new and the student has not used the site before you may need to create an account.

  • How do I add apps to the iPad?
    • Here is a video on how to add apps from the Self Service app on the iPads.  Keep in mind that the older iPads with an old version of iOS will not load some of the apps in the Self Service.

    • To reinstall the app please go to Self Service.
