CVSD expects to fully open on a normal school schedule for the fall of 2021. At this time, symptom attestation tickets and temperature checks will not be required. Mask requirements are currently state mandated. However, final requirements for the prevention of COVID-19 have not yet been determined.
We expect the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) final requirements for fall to come later this summer. DOH indicates they will have a more comprehensive update in consideration of Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations.
We will update our CVSD families as soon as we have new information for fall. As always, we will continue to provide options for our families for student learning.
Current DOH Requirements for Fall 2021:
An Update from Superintendent Small:
School districts across the state of Washington are under a mandate by the Department of Health and by Proclamation of Governor Inslee to have students and staff wear masks indoors at school. The CDC recently issued new guidance regarding masks; however, this guidance is not a mandate that governs our public schools.
The mandates that Washington State public schools must follow will be issued by the Governor and/or Department of Health. We have actively advocated for a return of those decisions to local school boards.
We expect the mandates and/or guidance from our state to be issued next week. Subsequently, we will be presenting plans for opening schools this fall at our school board meetings in August and will include discussion regarding masks.
