Classroom Environment
My classroom at University Elementary encourages students to work to their highest potential by reinforcing the positive aspects of each individual learner. Each student works towards their individual goals and objectives through large and small group instruction and one on one assistance. The classroom uses a variety of learning approaches that include hands on, visual, auditory, and sensory techniques to encourage learning.
Schedule
Library: Tuesday and Thursday
Music: Monday and Thursday
Health and Fitness: Wednesday and Friday
About Me
I want to share a little about myself with you so you can feel comfortable with my ability to teach your child. I have a wide range of educational experience which includes; Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Severe/Profound Special Education, 8 years’ experience as a Special Education teacher in Seattle Public Schools, an outdoor recreation counselor for people with disabilities, a respite provider for people with disabilities for DDD, and in home behavior intervention specialist for DDD. Through these experiences I have gained the knowledge and resources to work with families of children with disabilities in a variety of situation and meet their individual needs. For the past 3 years I have been raising 2 children of my own while working part time for the Department of Developmental Disabilities doing behavior intervention in the home.
