Chemistry 1

Chemistry One is the first half of the general chemistry curriculum.  Building on the intial chemistry students have obtained through either 9th grade science or some other physical science equivalent.  We will begin our study looking at the periodic properties of elements followed by the vocabulary of chemistry (naming molecules and compounds).  From naming we will study the math of beginning chemistry:  unit conversion, the mole and balanced chemical equations.  The class will conclude with stoichiometry, the study of how to convert quantities of one chemical in to quantities of either another reactant or one of the products.
