Mrs. Lori Schneider

Classroom Environment

I believe that all of my students can be successful in the world of reading and writing, and I will do everything in my power to work with each individual student in my classroom. As long as you are willing to learn and work hard to be successful, I know that we can work together to make that happen. I create a fun learning environment that fosters creativity while remaining respectful, helpful, and honest.

Schedule

I currently teach freshmen English, both 1 and 2, and AP Language & Composition for juniors.

I am available for more assistance during student access time (Tuesdays 7:30-8:25, Thursdays 8:00-8:25).

About Me

I am happily married to my husband, Josh, and am a proud parent of my beautiful daughter Gracie.

I earned my B.S. in Secondary English Education from Kansas State University in 2003 and taught my first two years in Kentucky. I am currently taking online master's classes to become a Library Media Specialist through Western Kentucky University. I have been at University High School since the 2005-06 school year.

At school, I am the freshman class advisor and the faculty advisor of Crimson Crew.

Current Classes

Freshman English 1

Reading short stories, excerpts from "The Odyssey", and Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet.  Writing focus will be on literary analysis and expository modes.

Freshman English 2

Reading will focus on Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.  Writing will primarily be in the persuasive mode.

Junior APLAC

This class, which could potentially earn college credit, focuses on non-fiction essays and the tools authors use in their craft.  Instead of asking "What does this mean?", students instead ask "How did the author create that meaning?"
