Miscellaneous Rules:
Entrance Fees for GSL tournaments are paid by the team. Entrance fees for non-league tournaments must be borne by the individual debater. These costs vary from tournament to tournament. As an estimate, out of town tournaments usually cost approximately one hundred ($100.00) plus meal costs per student. If a student fails to show up for a tournament or drops from the tournament after the applicable add/drop deadline, he/she will be held responsible to pay applicable fees. This rule applies equally to GSL tournaments. Since the team has already paid expenses on behalf of a debater which cannot be recouped, and the debater’s selection may have prevented the team from entering a different debater, the “absent debater” will be charged for the percentage of fees that s/he incurred. If a debater believes that s/he must forfeit a round, he or she must obtain the permission of a coach or a captain prior to the forfeit. Failure to obtain prior permission could result in team sanctions.
Library Debate Practice Rooms The library must be “clean and pristine” prior to debaters leaving practice for the evening.
