AP Lit Syllabus

This two-trimester course is designed to meet the requirements of the College Board’s Advanced Placement Literature Exam as well as complying with the curricular requirements described in the AP English Course Description. This course involves both the study and practice of writing and the study of literature. Representative works of recognized literary merit from various genres, authors and periods will be studied intensively. Through speaking, listening and reading, and primarily through the experience of their own writing, students will become more aware of the resources of language, i.e. connotation, metaphor, irony, syntax and tone.
