APLAC Handouts
The summer homework for this course asks students to reflect, in writing, on three great American classics.
Part of every great rhetoric course is learning how to analyze the written and spoken language to which we all have daily exposure. Use the rhetorical framework to begin this informative analytical process.
Another necessity in the study of rhetoric is the aquisition of the new and challenging vocabulary. Study the list of rhetorical terms and figures to master the terminology associated with great speaking and writing.
As you look at a piece of writing, it's not only important to note what the author says, but also at what he or she does. While reading, note the effect of the words on the page. Use the says/does analysis to guide you through the process.
