CVSD Classroom Websites Version 2
This class will show you how to create and maintain a classroom webpage. Your teacher web page is easy to update and requires no extra software. Collaboration is encouraged so come with your fellow grade level/ department teachers and set up a shared curriculum site and classroom specific site. You will enjoy the professional appearance, the ease of use and the chance to enrich what you are doing in your classroom. This K-12 class has no prerequisites and is offered for 12 clock hours. For every two hours in class the participant will spend two hours out of class developing their classroom web site. 12 clock hours will be awarded on successful completion of the course. register here / back to top

Classroom Websites Refresher Lab
In this class we will revisit and reinforce skills introduced in the Introduction to Classroom Websites class. There will be an emphasis on problem solving and answering your questions. During the class the majority of the time will be spent working on your own page creating links, working on page organization and adding more content. Tips and suggestions will also be offered as well as time for one on one support. In order to sign up for this class you must have already taken the Introduction to Classroom Websites class. 4 clock hours are given when you have posted your page. Easy Grade Pro 4.0
Easy Grade Pro is the standard for an electronic grade book in CVSD. With the release of version 4, new features have been added to the grade book’s functionality. We will cover basics such as importing students from SIS Web, create a grading scale, managing assignments, viewing progress, and customizing grade book functions. We will also explore new features in Version 4 such as expanded reporting options including the ability to publish grades to SIS web and create a variety of printed progress reports. 4 clock hours. Enhancing Teacher Productivity with Office: Word, PowerPoint and Excel
The following series is made up of 3 classes. You can sign up for all three or just the session that you want.
Word - Microsoft Word is an important tool for classrooms teachers. In this class we will learn tips and tricks to increase teacher productivity and the quality of documents produced to use with students. Time will also be spent on creating documents for use in your classroom and sharing ideas on how to better use Word to support your teaching in the classroom. 3 clock hours. 2 in class and 1 homework. PowerPoint - It seems like everybody has used or seen a PowerPoint presentation at one point in their lives. Take this 3 hour class and become a PowerPoint expert yourself!! Learn how to create slides and presentations with sound and video. Learn to embed your Unitedstreaming videos into your presentations that will leave your students crying for more. Ever want to use PowerPoint to play jeopardy with your students? Learn how to create your own custom game. 3 clock hours. 2 in class and 1 homework. Excel - Excel is a powerful application but underutilized in the classroom. Being part of the Office suite, Excel integrates with the rest of the Office programs such as Word and can make your life in and out the classroom all that much easier. This 3 hour class will help you in your understanding of Excel and how it’s basic functions. 3 clock hours. 2 in class and 1 homework. Inspiration
Inspiration is a powerful tool teachers and students can rely on to plan, research and complete projects. With the integrated Diagram and Outline Views, they create graphic organizers and expand topics into writing. This unique combination encourages learning in multiple modes. As a result, students gain and retain a better understanding of concepts and demonstrate knowledge, improving their performance across the curriculum. This class will provide you an introduction to the tool and time to create a least on project. This class is for 6-12 teachers. 6 clock hours - 3 seat. Kidspiration
This class will provide you an introduction to a great the organizational tool, Kidspiration. Created for K-5 learners, Kidspiration provides an easy way to apply the proven principles of visual learning. Students and Teachers build graphic organizers by combining pictures, text and spoken words to represent thoughts and information. Younger learners develop early literacy skills, and more advanced students improve comprehension skills and better organize ideas for writing. This class is for K-5 teachers. 4 clock hours. Everyday Mathematics Assessment CD
We all want to know how well our students are learning what we are teaching. This has been made easier with the help of the Everyday Mathematics Assessment CD. Using the Resource CD K-5 teachers can create, customize and save assessments that will allow you to check into your students understanding of what has been taught. The Assessment CD will even help you assess only the goals that are to be “secure” at any certain time. During this class we there will be an overview, then time to create assessments that you would like to use with your students. 4 clock hours (this class is offered in conjunction with Houghton Mifflin Lesson Planners below). Houghton Mifflin Lesson Planners
The Lesson Planner brings together in one place all the resources that are available to you with the Houghton Mifflin Language Arts Program. You can create custom views of the resources that you use, edit all content on your planner and click to preview certain teaching resources. The Lesson Planner also ties the lesson you are teaching to the GLES for you automatically. During the class we will have an overview, then time to create plans that you can use in your class. Introduction To Adobe Photo Shop Elements 5.0
Elements is a great way to manipulate your digital photos. Come learn some of the most useful features built into this editing tool. Pictures from your classroom can be added to your teacher’s web site. Due to budget constraints there will be no software given to participants at the end of the class. 6 clock hours. Internet Searching Made Easy
The Internet is a powerful resource tool if you know the tricks of finding the information you want quickly. In this 2 hour class, we will explore some of the pitfalls of trying to find specific information on the Internet, how search engines work, which search engines are best for different searches, and how to focus your results so you can find what you need quickly. register here / back to top

Net Smartz
The Internet is a part of our student’s lives. Protecting them from the dangers involved in its use is an increasing important subject. This class will equip you with ready to use curriculum to share with your students to raise awareness about Internet safety. Curriculum resources, which include games, videos, pledges and activity cards, are designed for grade bands covering K-12. This class is informative for you as a teacher as well as a parent. 3 clock hours - 2 seat, 1 homework . Office 07
As part of this class you will be exposed to a brief overview of the new features of Office 07 such as the Fluid User Interface including the ribbon, Office button, contextual tabs, galleries, and live preview. Outlook for Teachers
Outlook is a professional tool for teachers to use in sharing ideas, manging information and communicating quickly with parents and staff. This class will help you get more out of Outlook and Web-mail. Photo Story
Photo Story is a free program offered by Microsoft. Even better than being free, Photo Story stitches together pictures, music, voice narration in a highly compressed and easily adjusted format. Whether you use it for your end of the year slide show, or to have your students journal the creation of a science fair projects to post on the web, or create slide shows about field trips, you will love Photo Story’s ease of use. During the class we will also explore some excellent primary resources that are available for use in your classroom. With the Internet and Photo Story you can add some amazing content to your classroom. During class we will make at least one Photo Story that can be used in your classroom. SharePoint
What is a SharePoint site? A SharePoint site is a Web site that provides a central storage and collaboration space for documents, information, and ideas. A SharePoint site helps groups of teachers share information and work together. For example, a SharePoint site can help you share a project or calendar, and discuss or share ideas and documents. SharePoint sites are dynamic and interactive -- members of the site can contribute their own ideas and content as well as comment on or contribute to other people's ideas.

Teaching and the Internet
All Internet resources are not created equal. In this class we will learn to assess good Internet information. Time will be spent on distinguishing and using different types of search engines, finding specific databases for younger searchers, refining search strategies using Boolean logic and field searching. Technology Integration Cohort
This work session class is designed for groups of teachers to come together to work on their common curriculum. For example, a group of teachers who share common curriculum, would gather to collaborate and use the software available in the computer lab to produce an end product. Each Tech Integration Cohort will get a SharePoint site, which is a place to share common documents, ideas and links. The work session may be used to create PDFs and/or move over documents already created by group’s members to the SharePoint, or to divide the creating of other support documents. The cohort group may want to work together to create a bank of Unitedstreaming videos and quizzes that connect to their lessons. The class is totally customizable to your needs as a group of teachers. During the work session, you will also get the benefit of having a technology person to help you with integrating technology into your curriculum. register here / back to top

Unitedstreaming
Unitedstreaming provides you access to educational video clips organized into easy to find content and grade bands. Each video is broken into segments so you can find just what you are looking for. Unitedstreaming also provides resources that support the use of the video clips. This is a great tool to enrich your curriculum. We will learn how to search for video, still images, and lesson plans that are available to support you in your teaching. There will be time for your own searches and to explore the resource. Integration with Power Point and our Central Valley Servers will be highlighted.

Windows Introduction
This class will get you more comfortable with your computer. We will learn about making files, controlling printing, changing settings and other foundational windows skills that you always wanted to learn but find it hard to make time for. The CVSD network will also be covered as a tool to support what you do in the classroom. Learn how to maximize your server files both on the U drive and the classroom drive. Topics include how to back up your files to the U drive, create classroom folders for your students to collaborate and create a place to share documents with students.
