Classroom Environment
I teach middle and high school Language Arts and Spanish at the Spokane Valley Learning Academy. Because my students are home-schooled, I work closely with parents to impart a love of writing or learning another language. I encourage students to strive for excellence while, at the same time, giving them some freedom to develop skills at their pace. I believe in the validity of home-schooling and the fact that parents can be wonderful teachers. Concurrently, I see parent partnerships as the best of both worlds.
Schedule
Monday/Wednesday/Friday - SVLA Office in the mornings/Intermediate Spanish in the p.m.
Tuesday/Thursday a.m. - Middle and High School Writing, Spanish 2 and Intermediate Spanish/Office in the p.m./
About Me
I have been teaching at the Learning Academy since 2000. Prior to that I had taught middle school language arts, social studies, Spanish, ESL, and American Literature. I began my teaching career in 1972, taking time out to raise a family, which consists of two adult children and, happily now, one grandchild. This is my 30th year of teaching, and I plan to stay at it for some time as yet.
As the coordinator of Spokane Valley Learning Academy, I am available to answer questions about our program three days a week, and I teach classes two days.
