The Sunrise Elementary Able Learner Destination Imagination Team wrote song lyrics and choreographed dance moves to retell Dr. Seuss’ classic “The Cat in the Hat” for a second place win at the state tournament last month.
Students had to create a music video to retell a piece of literature for the competition. They placed second with their performance, just missing a chance to go to the world Destination Imagination competition. The team placed first in the previous regional tournament held at West Valley High School on Feb. 28.
The students are in the Able Learner Program and attend Sunrise Elementary in the Central Valley School District. Money to support the team was provided by Opportunity Elementary. The team includes: Camden Crosby, Quinn Holmdahl, Matthew Naccarato, Nathan Carrol, Mikayla Williamson, Ellie McDonald and Jesse Todd.
