School Nurse

Welcome to the School Nurse website for Sunrise Elementary. My name is Kathy Anderson and I have been the School Nurse at Sunrise since Fall, 2002. I am a Registered Nurse with a BSN degree from EWU and certification in school nursing. I have worked at several other schools within the Central Valley School District and also have experience working at Sacred Heart Medical Center and Spokane Regional Health District.

My job at Sunrise includes reviewing health records for health concerns that may affect your child's school experience, health screenings (hearing and vision), providing health education to students and staff as needed, providing first aid and keeping track of student immunizations and evaluating communicable diseases.

I love working at Sunrise and doing my best to keep the students healthy and safe.

Medically Complex Program

Sunrise is designated as a "medically complex" school. There are a few students throughout the school district that require a nurse full time in their building. Lynne Giusti is an RN in a dual role as nurse and educational assitant at Sunrise. She works in Mrs. Bergstedt's classroom for most of the day but is also available to  work with students that require the assistance of a nurse daily. We sometimes have students that transfer to Sunrise because they require a nurse to assist them during the school day.
