 Sight Words

High frequency words and sight words are terms that can be used interchangeably.  These are the words that appear most frequently in print.  Many are non-decodable (can't be sounded out) and need to be recognized "by sight".  Since students will encounter them frequently while reading, it is vital that they are able to read them instantly (in just a second or two).  This skill is essential to reading fluency.  Click here to view the first three hundred high frequency words.
