Classroom Environment

As a Learning Support teacher, my main job is to support students in reading and literacy. I have the pleasure of working with students on many different levels. Sometimes I work with the whole group in the regular classroom. Other times I work with small groups or individuals. Instruction is based on individual student needs after looking at multiple pieces of ongoing assessment.

Courtesy, Kindness, and Respect are traits we try to instill in every child at Sunrise. Therefore, I model CKR behavior in my classroom. The result is a warm and welcoming classroom environment built on mutual trust and respect. Students are encouraged to help each other and take risks. After all, mistakes provide an opportunity to grow, and we can all learn from each other!

About Me

I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Eastern Washington University. I also have endorsements in reading, early childhood education, and English.

This is my second year teaching at Sunrise Elementary, and I am loving it! This is also my second year as a reading specialist. I have out-of-state experience teaching kindergarten, first, and fourth grade. In between I have taught pre-K, summer school, and been a substitute teacher. I feel like I have found my second "home" at Sunrise and hope to be here for a long time!
