Speech

Angela Hubbard is the Speech Language Pathologist who currently works at Summit School.  She is at Summit School every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Speech-Language Pathologists deal with many aspects of communication.  They focus on helping children to develop their communication skills and self-esteem which influences their ability to learn and participate in community and family activities.  Speech-Language Pathologists not only work with language, they also deal with articulation, voice, and fluency, and any other communication difficulty that adversely impacts a student's educational performance.

Language involves both the understanding of others and expression of thoughts and ideas.  Articulation is the ability to correctly produce the sounds that are used to form words.  Voice is the ability to use the appropriate loudness, pitch and quality.  Fluency is the ability to speak using a smooth flow of words and using an appropriate rate.

She is always open to questions about any concerns in the area of communication that anyone would like to discuss.

Parents are encouraged to speak to their child's teacher or to contact Mrs. Hubbard with any communication concerns they have for their children.  Mrs. Hubbard can be reached at 228-4264.
