Principal's Message

"We are Crew not Passengers"

I’d like to welcome everyone to our web site, but even more, would encourage you to visit us in our very special school.  Summit School is a project based, non-traditional learning environment located in the city of Spokane Valley in the heart of the beautiful Inland Empire [North Eastern Washington State]. We serve students in grades K-8.
Summit School is currently associated with "Expeditionary Learning - Outward Bound" and is working to fully implement their core design principles and benchmarks.
At Summit School we are fully committed to providing a positive learning experience for our students. We recognize students as individuals for the special and unique gifts they contribute to our school and community.
It is expected that all students will behave responsibly and respectfully.  Responsible behavior leads to good attendance, good grades, good citizenship, and a willingness to take on academic and personal challenges.  It also helps to keep our school looking clean and welcoming to everyone.  Respectful behavior helps us create a school atmosphere where all students and staff feel valued and safe.
Parental involvement at Summit School is encouraged and highly valued. In whatever capacity parents involve themselves with their children’s education – as a volunteer, attending school and community activities, reinforcing and supporting academic needs at home, being a positive role model – this sends a strong positive message to their children on the value of education and enriches their educational experience. It is important that we work together reinforcing and modeling daily the value of education.
Summit is a great school in a great community. Again, we invite you to visit and become part of the exciting and enriching Summit School learning community.

Sincerely,
Lyle Krislock
Principal
