Classroom Environment

In my classroom I strive to create a supportive learning environment where every child develops curiosity, independence, and a sense of service and ownership for their community.

Schedule

Our day starts with a crew meeting and at 9:25 students switch to first period. We switch again for second period at 10:40. At noon we line up and walk down to lunch. 12:30 is the time for community time and then at 1:05 our base camp students attend third period in social studies. We end the day with planners and clean-up.

About Me

MY INTERESTS
In my down time I enjoy both relaxation and adventure. I love kayaking, reading, skiing and yoga, running and reading. Most would describe me as a passionate life-long learner and this passion leads me to travel to new places, explore new ideas, and create my own art and writing pieces. My husband and two dogs are amazing support and inspiration in my pursuit of becoming the best teacher and community member I can be. Finding ways to be of service to others is something I am constantly enjoying and wanting to share with my students.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
I have had the pleasure of teaching in Central Valley School District since the Fall of 2001, first teaching at McDonald Elementary and North Pines Middle School and then moving to Summit to begin our amazing adventure in teaching and learning. I earned my undergraduate degree in K-8 Education from Pacific Lutheran University with an emphasis in Spanish language and culture. I am endorsed in Spanish K-12 and ESL K-12. At EWU I earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2005.
