Technology Learning

Summit School is committed to approaching technology thru the eyes of student learning.  Our School Improvement Plan (SIP) process has focused and leads the way for technology goals at Summit School.  It starts with reviewing the state and district requirements on a regular basis to keep abreast of ongoing adoptions by those organizations which impact student learning and technology.  This is then matched up with our curriculum, our technology resources, and student abilities and needs. Acquisition and placement of new computers, projectors, document presentors, cameras and other technology both software and hardware is judged against it's impact on the students.

Current Technology Resources

Summit was fortunate to recieve grants for one digital camera per teacher.  This level of access has demonstrated an abundance of benefits for the students.  The hall is full of pictures of students in all aspects of Expeditions, Crew meetings, "Extended Day" activities, "Afterschool" activities, community times, YMCA swimming and student projects.  The cameras also are used extensively during staff training retreats, archiving documentation panels, and creating anchor charts.  The hardware includes Canon A70, A75, S210 and S1-IS cameras.  The yearly auction provided us with two document cameras and lcd projectors.  These have been placed in the Explorer rooms for greatest impact.  A theatre area located in the center of the school has been equipped with a document camera and projector.  It is available to the teachers and students for hands-on technology inquiry (Especially during culminating expedition projects and portfolio development.
