About Us

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. I never came upon my discoveries through the process of rational thinking."

Summit School Beliefs

Summit School was created based on the belief that students learn best when they hold ownership in their education and when that education is genuinely applicable to their lives. The teachers and staff at Summit consistently strive to create a learning environment where students are actively engaged in the subject matter while being evaluated based on the Essential Academic Learning Requirements as set forth by the State of Washington. We go to great lengths to ensure the quality and viability of education at Summit School, making it a place where students truly tap into their potential as learners.

Based on the depth and breadth of the interconnected Summit School curriculum, instruction and resources will continually evolve based on the needs and interests of the students through extensive staff planning and research. Therefore, the success of the Summit School learning environment would be limited greatly if the “curriculum” were solely a pre-determined collection of textbooks. We appreciate the vital role parents and their involvement play in a learning community and ask that you carefully consider the curriculum/instructional philosophy as outlined by Summit School and Central Valley School District. By sharing a common philosophy at Summit School we ensure an effective partnership between staff, students, and parents. We also ask that you understand that the authentic learning experience created at Summit School requires the student to attend school for learning to be effective. Therefore it is imperative that students maintain consistent attendance.
