Ms. Mack
Classroom Environment
As a Learning Support reading teacher, my emphasis is to provide a safe and enriched environment that will allow students to receive support and the necessary tools that will allow them to become successful readers.
About Me
My heart has always been into working with children. In 1978, I received an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education from Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon. After many years of teaching preschool-age children, I wanted to further my education so that I would be able to teach at the elementary level. I received my undergraduate degree from Eastern Washington University in 1998 with a major in reading and a minor in early childhood education. I received my Masters of Education Degree from Walden University in 2006 with an emphasis in elementary reading and literacy.
In addition to working with children, I enjoy gardening, camping, hiking, biking, walking, reading, and spending time with my grandson.
Schedule
I work with students in small, grade level groups on a daily basis. The content of my instruction is based on the needs of the students as they work toward meeting their grade level expectations for reading. Included in the daily schedule, students are given the opportunity to develop targeted areas such as reading fluency, reading rate, and comprehension strategies.
