Dear
Parents and Community:
University
High School remains committed to preparing our
students for their future not our past.
We support the state’s commitment to raising
the academic achievement and performance of all
students. The
state essential learnings and performance standards
have been incorporated in our course offerings.
These measures promote increased accountability
of students, staff, and program.
We used data from our 10th grade
test results to modify our course offerings and
improve student learning and prepare our students to
meet the changing demands of the 21st
Century.
The U-High staff and community representatives
have worked the last three years to design and furnish
a new high school. The new U-High will open in
September 2002. The
new building will support our program goals and the
learning needs of our students. State-of-the-art technology will enable our students to
experience technology as part of the learning process
and reflect how technology is currently being used in
the world of work.
District committees have reviewed all school
programs from academic to transportation to insure we
make a smooth transition from our current 10-12
configuration to a 9-12 high school.
We point with pride to our students, school,
and educational
programs at University High School.
The staff, School Management Team,
and School Improvement Team for Education
pledge to continue working to help our students learn
the skills necessary to successfully adapt to our
rapidly changing world.
We encourage parents and community members to
visit University High School.
If you want more information about U-High,
please visit our web site at www.cvsd.org/university/.
This student-created web page is just one
example of how students are applying their learning to
solve problems and create work products.
Sincerely,
Erik Ohlund
Principal
