Dear
Parents and Community:
We
are proud to submit to you this annual report summarizing some of Progress
Elementary’s goal and accomplishments for 2000/2001. This community can take pride in its school’s outstanding
staff and students.
At Progress it is our belief that all students can and will learn within a
warm, supportive environment. Mutual
respect and open communication between staff and parents is essential to
our success. For the past two years we have focused on student improvement
in the area of the Washington Essential Academic Learning Requirement of
written language and reading. To help students improve in reading and
written language, the staff has attended many workshops and implemented
school-wide strategies specific to those curriculums.
In reading and written language, we have surpassed the 20%
improvement goal assigned by the state.
Significant improvement has been made in all major areas of study.
Progress has a strong supportive community.
Parents and staff members participate in SITE based vision in the
areas such as student safety, instructional goals and building guidelines. The PTSA is active and contributes substantially to the goals
of this school and the Central Valley School District. The active parent participation in family fun and/or
education nights and in events such as Read Across America is greatly
appreciated. In partnership
we work toward the goal that each child will become: * a skilled,
knowledgeable learner, * an effective communicator, * a self-directed
learner, * a collaborative learner, * a quality worker/producer, * a
complex thinker, * a community contributor.
Teachers and support staff work collaboratively.
Interaction between classrooms is incorporated into lessons and
projects, between and across grade levels.
Our facility was remodeled in 1990 and serves the needs of our
students and staff well. At
Progress we strive for excellence; holding high expectations for our
students and ourselves. We
welcome your visit, and encourage you to become involved in your school.
Together we educate the children for the world of tomorrow.
Principal,
Benita
