School Goals
Read with comprehension, work with skill, and communicate effectively and responsibly in a variety of ways and settings.
Continue and Enhance Reader's Workshop, Wee Deliver, an in-school postal service, Six Traits of Writing, Technological training for teachers and Utilize Alpha-Smart computers.
Know and apply the core concepts and principles of mathematics; social, physical, and life sciences; civics and history; geography; arts; and health fitness. Activities include Implementation of Essential Mathematics Program (KG-4), Math assessment strategies reflecting our State Essential Learnings, Implementation of new Social Studies Program (KG-6).
Think analytically, logically, and creatively, and to integrate experience and knowledge to form reasoned judgments to solve problems. Inservice with Lynn Erickson, Ed. D., on the Structure of Knowledge and the design of Integrated Interdisciplinary Curriculum, based on conceptual learning to increase transfer and higher level thinking.

 

Noteworthy Achievements/Programs/Events

  1. Our business partnership continued with the Valley branch of Washington Trust Bank.
  2. SMART - (Students Motivating Activities and Recreation Time) This district program continued to provide a wide variety of after school activities for students.
  3. The Student Respect team was nominated for the James Chase Youth Award.
  4. A Student Enrichment Program was provided by the Ponderosa PTSA.
  5. The Fifth Grade Math Team competed in "Math Is Cool".
  6. Sixth Grade Students continued their cultural partnership with Japanese students from Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute.
