School Mission

Greenacres Elementary is committed to providing a positive and dynamic learning environment where each child has opportunities for optimal success. This is based on a strong core curriculum, a dedicated staff, and a working partnership with our community. We recognize this includes an ability to adapt to change and to learn constructive ways to deal with conflict.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Community:

We are proud to submit to you our annual report summarizing some of Greenacres Elementary goals and accomplishments for the 2000-2001 school year.

Greenacres has a strong community base with an active PTSA group that contributes substantially to achievement of goals at the school and of Central Valley School District.  We depend on the partnership with parents and with our business partner, Barnes & Noble to help us achieve success with our students.  Together, we work to assure that all students learn.  We expect students to become skilled, self-directed, knowledgeable learners, effective communicators, complex thinkers and community contributors.

Our staff works collaboratively toward achievement of well-defined school goals.  We continue to strive toward meeting our reading goals on the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) in grade 4, which is for 67.2% of students to meet or exceed the standard by 2001.  We celebrate a variety of personal and professional styles of teaching and believe that our own diversity provides students with the greatest variety of learning options.

The staff is committed to the Strategic Plan of the Central Valley School District.  Specifically, we have developed action plans that focus on respect, effort and self-discipline, technology as a learning tool and achievement of local and State academic standards.

We have a fully modern facility that serves the entire community in a variety of ways.

We strive for excellence, and hold high expectations for our staff, student and parent community.  We welcome visitations, and encourage interested patrons to become involved in your school.  Working together we can provide a safe, focused learning environment for students as we prepare them for the world of tomorrow.

  Sincerely,

James K. Berry
