Dear
Parents and Community:
At
Adams, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve
our community. We
believe that we are most successful when we work
closely with parents to meet the unique needs of each
student.
We
appreciate the strong support from our PTSA.
Their support and resources provide
recreational, as well as, educational support,
cultural enrichment programs, and other opportunities
that directly impact our students.
The
success of these students is, however, becoming
increasingly more dependent on their ability to meet
specific standards.
These standards are to communicate effectively,
know and apply basic skills, think analytically, and
understand the importance of work. With that in mind, we continue to address ways that we can
best prepare our students to meet these challenges and
take the risks necessary to learn.
Our
Strategic Plan focus this year has been to create a
system of support that will aid both the student and
the teacher in meeting these standards.
With the use of staff development funds we have
created a system of staff training called
Micro-sessions. These sessions afford Adams staff the
opportunity to perfect skills in the use of technology
and current teaching strategies through the attendance
of consistent, ongoing training.
We are grateful for these Micro-sessions, as
they are a crucial part of our ability to provide
staff training.
We
have implemented a discipline policy that focuses on
catching students doing what is right, while setting
high expectations and reasonable consequences for
misbehavior. We
have continued with the “Helping Hands” program
that rewards students for displaying behavior that is
above and beyond our expectations, and have added the
“Respectations Recess” for those students who meet
our “expectation” of “respect” for themselves,
others, and property.
We
extend an invitation to you and your family to get
involved in the Adams community, continue the
tradition of support that has been displayed thus far,
and help make Adams Elementary the best it can be.
Sincerely,
Jerrol
