School Goals

Evergreen Junior High’s improvement plan includes the goals of the District Strategic Plan.  This plan is designed to give direction for our staff, students, and curriculum for the next eight years.  Though we strive to meet all of the Strategic Plan’s goals, staff chose the following on which to place their major focus:

Students will meet, or exceed, local and state academic standards while being supported to maximize their potential.

Student learning and safety will be enhanced through the use of technology.

Students and staff will show respect, effort and self-discipline.

Noteworthy Achievements/Programs/Events

A continuing emphasis on school safety and a positive school climate through the emphasis on the values of respect, right choices, and responsibility.

An outside speaker program which brought to the school a variety of speakers focusing upon respect for oneself and others and people with disabilities or of different ethnic and racial groups, substance use and abuse, and making a commitment to achieving positive goals.

A 7th grade project integrating the areas of language arts, social studies, science, mathematics, and the state’s essential learnings in which each student prepares an oral presentation on a biological organism and its environment providing supportive visual data and details.

Musical groups—band, orchestra, and choirs—earning the highest ratings possible in their respective festival competitions.

A variety of volunteer and community outreach programs in which students provided needed items, food and their time to serve others in our community.

A very successful PTO-sponsored Family Feast Dinner which brought together staff, students, parents, and community members, along with gifts given to school including furniture, microphones, PE equipment.

A Global Awareness class with pen pals and visitation program with students from Japan through Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute.
