Classroom Environment
The fifth grade is the last grade within the elementary level of education in the Central Valley School District. Students are in the process of learning a lot more about the world around them, and as a result, who they are within it. They are preparing for the middle school experience in significant ways by learning how to be an independent, collaborative and successful learner. Our classroom is a place where students are valued as individual learners, yet who also work together to grow academically and socially. I value and respect every child I have the privilege to work with and teach. I strive to help each one reach toward their maximum potential in a classroom that is a safe, caring and respectful environment for every child and adult who passes through the door.

About Me
I completed my B.A. Degree at Gonzaga University in 1999 and earned my K-8 teaching certification and endorsements in both reading and special education (K-12).
I began my career with Central Valley School District in the fall of 1999 as a reading specialist at Opportunity Elementary. In year two, I was a half-time reading specialist and half-time resource room teacher at University Elementary. During the 2001-2007 school years I was an Academic Support Teacher working with students in math, reading and writing. In Spring 2007 I earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education at Whitworth College. I focused my studies within gifted/talented education, English language learners and mathematics learning.
I enjoy traveling, reading and consider myself a life-long learner. I aspire to ignite a true love for learning within each of my students!
Please know that we encourage parents to drop in at any time during the day to participate in our learning!
Thank you for the opportunity and blessing to have your child in my classroom! I look forward to a great year working with your child!
