Mathematics

Our school district has just adopted, and introduced, our NEW math curriculum, Math Connects.  A team of parents, teachers & administrators looked deeply at the new standards last year and found that this new math program is much more aligned to the newest state standards for student learning the the area of Mathematics. Teachers in grades K-8 will be using this new curriculum district wide. I, for one, am excited at the new program and believe we will see increased student learning in mathematics as a result of Math Connects.

This new program that consists of many levels of support for students.
For example: the student text book is available online and accessible from home to aid students with homework, as well as personal tutors, extra examples of mathematical concepts, self-check quizzes, a Multilingual eGlossary of math vocabulary, test practices, and fun math games to reinforce mathematical concepts for each grade level.

For Parents, you have access to all the resources for students, and for teachers, in addition to the eBook.

Take a look at this website to check out Math Connects: www.mcmillianmh.com

Your child will bring home the actual web log-on so you can access all the features available for students, parents and teachers.

MATH resources for kids and parents

FIRST IN MATH!!

Our PTA has been kind enough to renew our access to First in Math for the 2009-2010 year.

This means that 5th grade students can still access the fun math games from home and become better mathematicians. Whether your child needs to learn those multiplication & division facts, or is ready to reach into grade appropriate math learning, 1st in Math can meet their needs.

Watch for log-in information to come home in an upcoming newsletter and let your child play at this fun site to improve their math skills.

In the meantime, you can have them check out some of these other math websites for FREE!
