Reward Systems

I have a three tiered reward system in my class to encourage best effort and good behavior:

Stars

Stars are an individual reward for the class.  Stars are given at the end of the day by other students and myself.  I select a certain number of students each day who will be my "starsearchers".  A "starsearcher" will nominate a students he/she thinks has done something worth rewarding (helping on the playground, letting them borrow a pencil, or whatever).  That child will be given a piece of candy or a sticker.  I keep track of all stars on my classroom star board.  The students who earns the most stars in a month is the class "superstar" and gets a giant candy bar, a "superstar" ribbon, and a "superstar" pencil.

Apples

Each students has an apple on his/her desk.  Each apple has 40 seeds.  I give out seeds to different rows/groups throughout the day, usually in increments of five.  When a student has filled all 40 seeds of the apple, that student gets to draw a slip from my treasure chest.  These slips have various rewards on them.

Panther Paws

The class as a whole can earn panther paws.  I give these usually in two to five point increments.  I give these paws when the entire class is doing a good job.  When the class reaches 60 panther paws we get a 60 minute party.  The students get to choose the type of treat we will have (pizza, rootbeer floats, or whatever) and the type of activity we would like to do.
