Principal's Message

At Ponderosa Elementary we are proud of the many achievements of our students. We know that parental involvement is a crucial element in the implementation of our School Improvement Plan and, most importantly, your son and/or daughter's success in school. With the combined efforts of students, staff, parents, and community our work this year will focus on the following goals:

•Students will meet or exceed local and state academic standards.
• Ponderosa Elementary will develop a plan of consistent, ongoing staff training to aid in the implementation of new teaching strategies brought about by new curriculum adoptions, technology, and Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements.
• Implementation of School Wide Discipline Plan that rewards students for exceeding expectations, reinforces the district wide theme of respect, and encourages effort, self- discipline and responsible behavior.

Ponderosa offers many programs to meet student needs, both during the school day and before and after school. Dedicated teachers offer extra help in basic skill areas like reading, math, writing and literature, as well as programs for enrichment including art, drama, and sports.

It is a pleasure to be a part of such a strong learning community. We are happy to have community members visit our school and share in the joy of learning.
