Classroom Environment

The resource room at Ponderosa is designed to support the students on Individualized Education Plans in the best manner possible. We focus on increasing independence with students, putting everyone on an individual schedule that they hold in their binders to reference as they go about their days here at school.

We have centers in the resource room that include group time with a teacher, independent work time in various activities, and computer time using keyboarding, reading games or math games.

About Me

Although I have been teaching since 1994, this is my fourth year as the resource room teacher here at Ponderosa. Prior to being here I have spent time as a self-contained and a resource room teacher in several other buildings in the district. I love spending time working with students, helping them to grasp concepts that they have been struggling with.

I hold a master's degree from EWU, focusing on special education, reading and early childhood education. I am married to Chris and have two daughters, Abigail and Jessica.

Schedule

My scheduled day begins at 8:05 and ends at 3:35. I see students in the resource room in segments ranging from 30 minutes a day up to 3 hours a day, depending on their needs.
