Sight/Rainbow Words

Here is the complete list of sight words, or Rainbow words, for the year. These are the most commonly read words in books at our grade level and several cannot be decoded or sounded out. Knowing these words quickly by sight will improve your child's reading fluency. Besides seeing the words in books, it may also help your child learn them quickly by making flash cards for each word and playing games with them. I have provided the words in a flash card format so you can print and cut them out as flash cards. Refer to the class newsletter to know which words we are learning for the week so you can focus on those particular words at home. We will learn 2-3 words per week. If you notice your child struggling to learn the words, add the words at a slower rate. Thanks for supporting learning to read at home and have fun!
