Overview & Mission Statement

Our Mission: High expectations and maximum support for every student, every day!

Hello Opportunity Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year!  As always, you are cordially welcomed to our school.  The word “our” truly means our children, our parents, our staff and our community.  This year our students will continue their learning with a strong academic curriculum.  Reading, writing and mathematics are the core subjects at the center of each student’s learning.  Our staff is committed to high expectations for student learning and growth.  As a result, we ask that our parents provide a daily structure in which students are reading and doing homework.  We stress reading because we know that students that are reading at grade level are more successful in school. The new legislation, “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) requires annual testing of students and this data will be used to determine the success of local schools.  With the (NCLB) policies, greater expectations are being placed on students to achieve and schools can only meet this challenge with the support of parents.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call 228-4550 or stop by the school at any time. Warmest

Regards,

Your Opportunity Staff
