These assessments test the skills your child has accumulated throughout their home and school experience. You can have a tremendous impact on your child's success not only on the WASL but as a life-long learner. Here is how you can help with your child's success on the WASL. - Have your child summarize what has been read including the main idea and three details.
- Ask questionsthat check comprehension.

- Pose real-life problems that involve math and have your child explain the steps needed to arrive at the answer.
- Involve your child in real life experiences that require linear, weight and volume measures, elapsed time and counting and making change with money.
Writing: - Have your child elaborate in detail about their experiences.
