  • If you register for an online technology class, your account will not be created until the $5 class fee has been received at the LTC.

All of the clock hour classes listed on this page are available online.  This means that you can take these classes from home on your own computer.  There is no set schedule so you can take them whenever your schedule allows.  Check out the FAQ page for answers to frequent questions about the online classes.

A few things to note: PLEASE READ

  • Classes are only $5 (make checks out to CVSD and send to Rob Curnow or Pam Reed at the LTC). Your account will not be created until your money has been received.
  • No partial clock hours will be awarded.  In other words, if you sign up for an 8 hour class, you can not get 4 clock hours for partial completion.
  • You must complete the final assessment for each class with a 75% or better.  You get 2 chances to pass.
  • Clock hours will be awarded upon successful completion of all lessons, assessments, and time spent in the system.
  • You can sign up for a maximum of 2 versions of an Office Suite.   
  • All time spent working on classes must be done outside the contracted work day.

Class Course Description

Windows Vista

 

This online course introduces the features of Windows Vista. It will familiarize the learner with the Windows Vista user interface so that they can confidently start using Windows Vista right away. Get up-to-speed quickly with this interactive Windows Vista course. This course incorporates the beginner, intermediate and advanced versions of the Windows Vista training.

Clock Hours: maximum of 4

Windows XP

 

 

This course provides a detailed overview of Microsoft Windows XP operating system, including the following: personalizing your computer, installing hardware and software, working with files and folders, adding printers and printing files, working in a network environment, using the Internet, working offline, communicating with e-mail, protecting data, and taking care of your computer. This course incorporates the beginner, intermediate and advanced Windows XP courses into one class.

Computer Basics

 

 

This course provides an essential understanding of the basics of computer hardware including all of the components inside the computer, system bus and expansion cards, buying and upgrading a desktop or laptop computer. The course also explores different types of software, networks, an introduction to the Windows XP operating system, and the Internet.

Office 2000 Beginner

 

 

This online course will lead participants through all of the Microsoft Office Suite programs using easy to understand bite-sized learning modules. This course will cover the fundamentals of Word, Excel, and Outlook. By training in all three Office programs together, they will gain an insight into how the Office Suite programs operate as an integrated system.

Office 2000 Intermediate

 

 

This online course will lead participants through all of the Microsoft Office Suite programs using easy to understand bite-sized learning modules. This course will cover intermediate topics in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. By training in all three Office programs together, participants will gain an insight into how the Office Suite programs operate as an integrated system.

Office 2000 Advanced

 

 

This online course will lead participants through all of the Microsoft Office Suite programs using easy to understand bite-sized learning modules. Office 2007 Lite

 

Want to learn more what is new in Office 07 but don't have the time to take the full Office 07 Suite version of the class?  This online course will lead participants through all of the Microsoft Office Suite programs using easy to understand bite-sized learning modules. This course will cover new features available in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and illustrate the differences between older versions of Office and the new 07 version.  By training in all four Office programs together, participants will gain an insight into how the Office Suite programs operate as an integrated system. 

This course satisfies the Office 07 requirement for Cart teachers.

Office 2007 Orientation

 

 

This course is required if you would like to have Office 07 installed on your computer.

NOTE: You must buy a license from OETC and your computer must have a minimum of 1GB of RAM in order to run Office 07. Please consult your building tech support person if you are unsure as to how to check for the amount of RAM in your machine. This is an introductory course highlighting the differences between older versions of Office and the new Office 07.

NOTE: This class is not available for clock hours.

Sharepoint 2007

 

This SharePoint course is an introductory course which covers the basic use and functions of a SharePoint site. It is intended for users who want to attain elevated user rights (contributor) on a SharePoint site, or anyone looking to become more proficient in using or navigating within a site. The course includes lessons on using SharePoint with Office, creating lists and libraries, blogs, wikis, and limited information on managing sites.

Inspiration 8

 

 

This class will provide you with an introduction to a great the organizational tool, Inspiration 8. Inspiration 8 is a tool teachers and students can rely on to plan, research and complete projects. With the integrated Diagram and Outline Views, they create graphic organizers and expand topics into writing. This powerful combination encourages learning in multiple modes. As a result, students gain and retain a better understanding of concepts and demonstrate knowledge, improving their performance across the curriculum.

Kidspiration 3

 

 

This class will provide an introduction to the great organizational tool, Kidspiration 3. Created for K-5 learners, Kidspiration 3 provides an easy way to apply the proven principles of visual learning. Students and teachers build graphic organizers by combining pictures, text and spoken words to represent thoughts and information. Younger learners develop early literacy skills, and more advanced students improve comprehension skills and better organize ideas for writing.
Participants who have taken the old version of Kidspiration may take this new version for clock hours.

United Streaming:
Features and Navigation

 

In this course, students will discover how easy it is to use Unitedstreaming. Students will learn how to log in to Unitedstreaming and conduct searches for video, images, and other digital media resources. They will also find out how to play and download video segments and images. Finally, students will explore how easy it is to use the tools in Unitedstreaming's Teacher Center and access Professional Development opportunities.
