Priorities
Our School improvement plan addresses 4 areas for the upcoming year. We are committed to providing a safe environment where learning is our focus. If you have any questions regarding this plan, please contact Mr. Grassi at 228-5020.
SIP Summary 2008-2009
SIP Goal #1-We will focus on student achievement on the WASL by increasing our scores 5 to 10% for the next 3 years in Reading, Writing and Math.
Actions:
- Created core support classes within the daily schedule, students were taken out of PE on a short term basis to receive additional instruction in CORE areas. Pre and post testing was used to determine success.
- A LAP aide was brought in at mid-year and assigned to work with students who were Tier 3 & 4.
- Peer tutoring was started as an after school program, allowing students to receive help on homework from peers.
- Collaboration time was used to review student learning and student work.
- Staff received several CRISS reviews during the school year.
- Pre and post testing was used to assist in student placement within the schedule.
- A literacy board was developed showing each students current levels.
SIP Goal #2- The building crisis plan will be reviewed yearly, changes will be made, and the information distributed to staff and students within two weeks of school opening. We will have lock down drills once each trimester and 9 fire drills as prescribed by law.
Actions:
- Principal, Curriculum Coordinators, Custodial staff, and Office staff reviewed crisis/emergency plans.
- Changes were made to allow for a simpler plan that was easy to follow by both staff and students.
- Principal will have completed additional training by 8/31/08.
- Upgraded plans were completed.
- Crisis envelopes were placed in every classroom, allowing for easy access during an emergency.
- 3 lock downs and 9 fire drills were successfully completed during the 07-08 school year.
