Classroom Environment

Our class is a place of respect for all cultures and languages. Beginning students will work on basic interpersonal communication skills (listening/speaking) in English. Students will also begin working on higher cognitive skills (reading/writing). During this time, they will be introduced to vocabulary and culture that will help them in school and community settings. Intermediate/advanced students will continue objectives of beginning students and include more content area vocabulary and critical thinking skills.

Nuestra clase es un lugar de respeto para todas culturas e idiomas. Los estudiantes principios aprenden escuchar y hablar en ingles. Tambi¨¦n, ellos comienzan aprender las capacidades cognitivas de leer y escribir en ingles y aprender¨¢n vocabulario y cultura para ayudar en la escuela y la comunidad. Los estudiantes intermedio y avanzado continuar¨¢n con los objetivos de estudiantes principios y aprender¨¢n mas vocabulario acad¨¦mico y capacidades de pensando cr¨ªtico.

About Me

My name is Mrs. Casteel. I am married and have daughter. This is my 3rd year at North Pines and my 5th year teaching. I love teaching ELD and learning about other cultures. The students in my class are the best. I¡¯m proud to be their teacher!

My name is Mrs. Koch. I am married, have 5 children and 5 beautiful grandchildren. I have been with Central Valley School District for 12 years. I have been pleased to work with Mrs. Casteel and the ELD students for the past year. These students are a marvelous inspiration to me and always bring a smile to my face.
