Classroom Environment

As a teacher, I believe in five key expectations to establish a strong and positive classroom environment.

1. Respect
This is #1 for a reason! Respect is a must in anything that you do in life. We must respect classmates, our school, and its teachers.

2. Attitudes for Success
Nothing positive ever comes from poor attitudes! Above my door reads "Attitudes are contagious....is yours worth catching?"

3. School and Class Pride
Pride is a great thing.....especially when it is Cub Pride!

4. Teamwork
As a class, we must all understand that we are all one big team. Although much of your work is individual, we must still be willing to work together.

5. Having Fun!
Throughout the school year, I am going to do my very best to make sure that you have fun and enjoy your 1st year in middle school.

About Me

I was born and raised in the small farming community of Tekoa, WA in Whitman County.(Go Nighthawks!) I graduated from EWU in 2000 with a B.A. in K-8 Education, with an endorsement in Reading, and again in 2005 with my Masters in Curriculum & Instruction. I taught my 1st two years at Ponderosa Elementary-6th grade and the past 7 years at North Pines Middle School, where I currently teach 6th grade Language Arts/Social Studies and coach basketball and baseball. I enjoy most all sports (playing, coaching, and watching), spending time at the lake, golfing, and being a Dad. I am married to my wonderful wife (Carrie) and have a daughter (5) and a son (3). I cannot forget our Boxer dog named "Baxter", who thinks that he is our 3rd child!
