Finalists Speak About Qualifications, Respond to Questions

6/5/2012

Parents, students, staff and interested community members are encouraged to participate in the chance to provide input into the selection of new leadership for Opportunity Elementary. The position will soon be vacated by Principal Molly Carolan who has been selected as the next principal of the district’s Summit School.

A “Meet the Candidates” Community Forum featuring the finalists for the Opportunity Elementary principal position will be held in the school’s gymnasium on June 13 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. The school is located at 1109 S. Wilbur Road in the Central Valley School District.

Each finalist will spend 30 minutes speaking about their qualifications for the position and responding to questions from the audience. Forum participants will be invited to submit written feedback about the candidates for consideration by the selection committee.

Opportunity Elementary serves about 450 students in grades K-5. The school has been recognized as a top-performing school by earning a Washington Achievement Award in 2010 and 2011. Opportunity Elementary is home to the Able Learner Program, a district-wide program serving about 200 highly capable elementary students in grades 2-5.

Opportunity Elementary is one of 22 schools and three learning centers in the Central Valley School District, educating more than 12,600 students.
